The prehistoric
world for us moderns may appear dark and mysterious. Research and profound
study has shown a large part of this hoary world was matriarchal/matrilineal that
venerated instruments of fertility that owed allegiance to the religions of the ubiquitous
Mother Goddesses.
It was during
these times when breast shaped hills to the mother tribes across the world
including prehistoric India were held as emblems of the Mother Goddesses’ breasts; all
appendages of the now defunct fertility cult.
Scores of such hills
across the world have still retained the ancient names such as Mam Tor near Derbyshire,
England that simply means Mother Hill and Maithan in Jharkhand which is suggestive of Mother’s
breasts.
